British International School Goes Outward Bound
55 British International School (BIS) students went off on the Outward Bound Adventure program. The objective was to help these students build self-confidence and teamwork among their peers, as well as to help them become self-reliant and responsible young adults.

The
program took place from October 15 – 17th, 2008 at OBI’s Center
in Jatiluhur. The students faced up to an ample amount of challenges
in the outdoors of Jatiluhur, such as high ropes, rock climbing,
canoeing, raft building. Not only did the kids have fun, but they
gained valuable lessons. One of the students, Tae Won Nam shared
that the most memorable activity was canoeing because it was the
most difficult and tested his perseverance.

Amanda Hogan also shared her experience in
that she was able to cooperate with others and work as a team
through this program. Her goals were to be more independent and
open minded to new challenges.

BIS has made Outward Bound a program of choice
for their year 13s. BIS wanted a program that compliments the
school’s core values of academic excellence, but also individual
creativity and the balance between individuality, community and
environment. The cooperation between BIS and Outward Bound Indonesia
has been formed since 1996. www.bis.or.id
